Clearly, good horses begin with good breedings. We take great pride in doing our homework before making any breeding decisions. Our entry into Iberian Warmbloods began with the breeding of our American Thoroughbred mare, Molokini ("Mollie") to my friend's Lusitano stallion Uirapuru ("Pu").
We purchased Mollie based not only on her conformation and great mind, but also on her old-world Thoroughbred bloodlines: tried and true horses who raced hard, retired sound, and passed that soundness on to proceeding generations. Her pedigree appears on this website:
www.pedigreequery.com. I tried to reproduce it here but it is too extensive and becomes hard to read in the reduced form required to fit the page. To see her bloodlines back five generations, go to the website and type "Molokini" in the box. There are three listed. She is the one born in 1994. Choose that one and hit the search button and the interractive pedigree will appear. You can click on any horse in her pedigree to see their photos and to learn more about each one. Each time you click on a horse, it will roll that horse to the front of the five-generation pedigree. It's cool! Click the icons at the top of each horse's page to see their photo, race record, and lots more info. There is also a great site that describes the significance of the numbers associated with Dosage Index, Center of Distribution, and Dosage Factor that appear after each horse's name at the top of their screen here:
http://www.thoroughbredchampions.com/dosage/index.htm
It's very informative and both sites are user-friendly.
I will be adding Pu's pedigree and history here in the near future.
